“A Minecraft Movie” has achieved a record-breaking box office feat despite receiving disastrous reviews. The star-studded film, featuring Jason Momoa, Jack Black, and Jennifer Coolidge, grossed $301 million globally in its opening weekend, setting a new record for the highest opening weekend for a video game adaptation. The movie follows the adventure of four misfits trapped in the Minecraft Overworld, embarking on creative challenges to find their way home.

In an unexpected twist, a disturbance during a showing in Seaford, New York, led to police intervention. Video footage shows the crowd reacting energetically to a scene involving a “chicken jockey,” resulting in police escorting several young people and children out of the theater. The Nassau County Police Department confirmed no arrests were made.

Despite harsh criticism, Warner Bros. celebrates the film’s success, marking it as one of the most successful releases of 2025.
